Subject: The Tenant and other worlds.
In Barcelona someone asked a question about the Tenant.
Florinda's answer was short: "The Tenant has gone."
In Berlin she apparently refused to talk about the subject. Out of all
the notes on the Barcelona and Berlin workshops, her four word response
sticks out.
THE TENANT HAS GONE . . .
Could this be the sorceric equivalent of, 'Elvis has left the building'?
And if the Death Defier has gone, can the sorcerers be far behind? Carol's
ten year absence was related to the Tenant, and her reappearance is the
reason the sorcerers went public with Tensegrity.
So what does it all mean?
I don't pretend to know, but there are a few things I've often
wondered about that may relate to the current whereabouts of the Tenant.
First, the notion of using awareness as an element of the environment.
Don Juan:

What an incredible proposition! From a scientific point of view, everything
seems to point to the universe being full of life, but we can't seem to find
any concrete evidence of it. No bodies from UFOs, no definite signals that
SETI can point to with certainty, nothing but a rock from Mars with possible
fossil micro-organisms in it. But what if we're looking in the wrong place,
or more precisely in the wrong way, for evidence?
"What's the difference between a physical and an energetic element?" I asked.
"The difference is that physical elements are part of our interpretation
system, but energetic elements are not. Energetic elements, like awareness,
exist in our universe. But we, as average people, perceive only the physical
elements because we were taught to do so. Sorcerers perceive the energetic
elements for the same reason: they were taught to do so.
Don Juan explained that the use of awareness as an energetic element of our
environment is the essence of sorcery, that in terms of practicalities, the
trajectory of sorcery is, first, to free the existing energy in us by
impeccably following the sorcerers' path; second, to use that energy to
develop the energy body by means of dreaming; and, third, to use awareness as
an element of the environment in order to enter with the energy body and all
our physicality into other worlds."

The Tenant knows hundreds, 'if not thousands', of positions of the assemblage
point outside the band of man. These 'grand shifts' require detailed
knowledge of how to immobilize the AP in order to acquire cohesion. All
of these 'grand shifts' involve total worlds. Such were the 'gifts' made
by the Tenant to the naguals of the sorcerers' lineage in return for a
portion of their energy.
Looking into the night sky at millions and millions of distant suns, and
considering the possibility of using awareness as an element of the
environment for traveling, is it any wonder that the Tenant might know
thousands of positions of the AP, each a world out there, or beyond this
skin of the onion?
The question is, since the sorcerers' lineage ends with them and the
'Gold Clasp', what will the Death Defier do now? S/he apparently has needed
some portion of a nagual's energy for at least eight generations. Why
exactly is a mystery to me, but if it's still the case could the Tenant
have been forced to seek out another nagual as it did with Sebastian?
Before getting to that, let's back up and cover some other territory.
One major difference between the old sorcerers and the new sorcerers
is self-reliance.
"As you already know, for modern-day sorcerers to perceive energy directly
is a matter of personal attainment," don Juan said. "We maneuver the
assemblage point through self-discipline. For the old sorcerers, the
displacement of the assemblage point was a consequence of their subjugation
to others, their teachers, who accomplished those displacements through
dark operations and gave them to their disciples as gifts of power."

Don Juan expressed concern about Castaneda's affinity for the inorganic
being's world and the mood of the old sorcerers. Doing things with the
help of powerful 'friends' was not self-reliant. Stalking the stalkers,
the IBs, using their dark energy but not being set up by them, is something
Carlos and Carol failed to do when they tried to use awareness as an
element of the environment and ended up in bed in another world.
"It's possible for someone with greater energy than ours to do anything to
us," he went on. "For example, the nagual Julian could have turned me into
anything he wanted, a fiend or a saint. But he was an impeccable nagual and
let me be myself. The old sorcerers were not that impeccable, and, by means
of their ceaseless efforts to gain control over others, they created a
situation of darkness and terror that was passed on from teacher to disciple."

Would Carol's ten year absence point to the Death Defier having 'greater
energy'? And if so, what else is the Tenant capable of? I personally
think Carlos, Carol, Taisha and Florinda have remained true to the teachings
of don Juan and are new sorcerers. Tensegrity is entirely based on
self-reliance. Yet 'mass', the number of people doing Tensegrity, has
played an important role as Carlos noted in his dedication to the book,
TENSEGRITY: THE MAGICAL PASSES OF THE SORCERERS OF ANCIENT MEXICO:
"To every one of the practitioners of Tensegrity, who by rallying their
forces around it, have put me in touch with energetic formulations that
were never available to don Juan Matus or the shamans of his lineage."

But were these 'energetic formulations' available to the sorcerers of
ancient Mexico, and/or the Tenant? What about all those tales of whole
villages of people simply disappearing in ancient times?
"Now it's your turn to meet the tenant," he continued. "Perhaps the
gifts he will give you will offset our total balance and our lineage
will plunge into the darkness that finished off the old sorcerers."

Sounds to me like the end of the lineage had not been determined at this
point. When Carlos met with the Tenant he refused any 'gifts of power'.
This had never been done before, and as a result everything changed.
"All our speculations are useless," don Juan said in a quiet, even tone.
"I believe there is no longer any Carol Tiggs. There isn't any woman in
the church either; both have merged and flown away on the wings of intent,
I believe, forward.
"The reason the Carol Tiggs of the hotel was so worried about her appearance
was because she was the woman in the church, making you dream a Carol Tiggs
of another kind; an infinitely more powerful Carol Tiggs. Don't you remember
what she said? 'Dream your intent of me. Intend me forward.'"
"What does this mean, don Juan?" I asked stunned.
"It means that the death defier has seen her total way out. She has
caught a ride with you. Your fate is her fate."
"Meaning what, don Juan?"
"Meaning that if you reach freedom so will she."
"How is she going to do that?"
"Through Carol Tiggs. But don't worry about Carol." He said this
before I voiced my apprehension. "She's capable of that maneuver and
much more."

So if the Death Defier has gone, does that mean Carol somehow finally
enabled him/her to leap 'forward' to where the new sorcerers' parties have
been going, or someplace similar, beyond the IB's world? And does the
'mass' generated by lots of people doing Tensegrity, and previously
unavailable 'energetic formulations', have anything to do with it?
"Carol Tiggs is gone."
"But where do you think she went, don Juan?"
"Wherever the sorcerers of antiquity went. I told you that the death
defier's gift was endless dreaming possibilities. You didn't want anything
concrete, so the woman in the church gave you an abstract gift: the
possibility of flying on the wings of intent."

Simultaneous time, 'backward and forward on the here-and-now energy of the
universe'; ten years back, ten years after. "So where to now, St. Peter?"
I don't think the Tenant needs the energy of a nagual anymore. What the
Death Defier and the sorcerers are now capable of is hard to fathom. What
the 'mass' generated by Tensegrity is capable of is equally hard to fathom.
I think the Tenant has used awareness as an element of the environment
to go elsewhere. I think the sorcerers will soon do the same.
It's the definitive journey, the ultimate trajectory of sorcery.
